Kenny Rogers is responding to what he calls “wild misinformation and speculation from several media outlets” about his health by issuing a statement on Instagram.
“Kenny was recently admitted to a local Georgia hospital and treated for dehydration,” the post begins. “He will remain there to complete some physical therapy to get his strength back prior to discharge.”
The message closes, “He appreciates the concern and well wishes he has received from his fans and can assure everyone he plans on sticking around through the years to come.”
The 80-year-old had planned to retire from touring in 2018, but was forced to cut his Gambler’s Last Deal trek short in April. At the time, he acknowledged that he was “working through a series of health challenges,” adding that “doctors fully expect the outcome to be great.”
After a 60-year career in music, movies, and television, the Country Music Hall of Famer earlier expressed his desire to spend time at home in Georgia with his wife, Wanda, and their twin sons, who’ll be 15 in July.
